Welcome to the Predictive Patterns Blog

I'll be using this blog to post on topics of interest to our clients and to the development community.  Topics are likely to include:

  • Software development practises, particularly code generation
  • Algorithm development, particularly for pattern discovery and image registration
  • Rapid application development using wxWidgets
The blog setup is very new.  It uses Movable Type, which has so far proven relatively flexible and painless.  I'm learning CSS on the fly, so there are some glitches here and there--the comment confirmation page is spectacularly ugly, for example.  The main blog pages look pretty good on Firefox, but that other browser sticks a horizontal bar in at the top of the left column for reasons I've not been able to fathom.

As the rest of the site is based on ye olde table layouts, it's been an experience getting the Movable Type templates, widgets and styles to even approximately emulate it, and I confess to simply bashing some of the table layout into the appropriate templates, which is hardly elegant but does get the blog off the ground prior to the heat death of the universe.

If things aren't too busy over the summer months I may be live-blogging the development of an application that wraps a pattern discovery algorithm I invented in the winter.  Stay tuned!
